Armed Forces Memorial Service of Dedication attended by HM The Queen 20th July 2011
Her Majesty The Queen attended a dedication service on Wednesday 20th July 2011 at the National Memorial Arboretum ,Staffordshire to remember and give thanks for those who gave their lives in the service of their country in 2010.Dignitaries attending the service as follows:
HRH The Queen,Sir James Hawley KCVO;Lord Lieutenant of Staffordshire;The Rt Hon Dr Liam Fox MP,Secretary of State for Defence;Vice Admiral Sir John Dunt KCB;Chairman of the Armed Forces Memorial Trust;Colonel John Barkshire CBE,Chairman of Trustees;National Memorial Arboretum;Mr John Crisford,National Vice Chairman,The Royal British Legion;and Commander Charles Bagot Jewitt Royal Navy,Chief Executive,National Memorial Arboretum,also attending were members of the clergy including Bishop John Kirkham,Armed Forces Memorial Trustee and former Bishop to the Armed Forces;The Reverend Scott J Brown QHC BD,Chaplain of the Fleet and Revd Vic Van Den Bergh,Honorary Chaplain of the National Memorial Arboretum.
Vice Admiral Charles Montgomery CBE ADC,Second Sea Lord,read the names of Royal Navy and Royal Marines personnel newly inscribed upon the Memorial;Lieutenant General Gary Coward CB OBE,Chief of Materiel (Land) and Quartermaster General,read the names of Army personnel newly inscribed upon the Memorial;Air Marshal Andy Putford CBE RAF,Air Member for Personnel read the names of Royal Air Force personnel newly inscribed upon the Memorial,Music was by the the band of the Royal Marines ,Portsmouth
